Hambela sits between Gedeb and Central Guji. It’s volcanic soil is ripe with nutrients and perfect for coffee plants. Hambela’s altitude is higher on average than other parts of Guji with a clear bi-modal rainfall pattern. Beans from this region tend to be smaller due to the even and slow maturation process. Hambela cup profile distinguishes itself for it’s syrupy body and vanilla notes in the fragrance.

The coffee from Dari is collected from farmers whose main business is coffee production.       The coffee is grown within false banana trees, being that one of the staple foods in the Hambela region

This coffee in particular comes from the Hambela Washing Station in the Guji region of. Abiyot collects the coffee from more than 450 farmers. He has built a reputation in the community providing financing to farmers during the off season reputability and taking cherry in lieu of payment.

A network of collectors, personally trained by Abiyot to recognize quality cherries, will inform him on a daily basis as to the cherry availability and local price to which extent he will purchase based on the capacity of the drying station. Buno has been supplying coffee to the ECX for more than five years from this station, but with the change in regulation he was finally able to become and exporter and deliver his wonderful coffees to buyers throughout the world.
