Located in Mantiqueira de Minas Fazenda Fortaleza is blessed with high altitudes and rich soils. The region is comprised of 7000 coffee growers with an annual output of 1 million bags. The farm belongs to Grasiela & her husband Djalma who inherited a piece of coffee farm from his father who passed away in 1999. The family line in coffee faring dates to Djalma’s grandmother who was a pioneer in the farming of coffee in the region after discovering coffee in a neighbouring town. The farm is small and has an annula production of around 150 bags in total.
The family live on the farm and are dedicated to the production on high end specialty coffee since 2015. They belong to the local COOP named APAS and in 2015 they entered a competition with their coffee and achieved an incredible score of 91.7! The coffee is hand-picked with careful selection to ensure the ripest of cherry. The coffee is then transferred to a patio where it is dried for 7-10 days and turned regularly to ensure an even drying.
