Finca Floripondio is a 12 hectare farm in the Villa Rosario area of the Caranavi province located between 1600 and 1650masl. The farm is planted with Caturra, Catuai and Typica, which is covered by banana, papaya and citrus trees for shade. Although the farm is not organic certified they are not using any chemicals for fertilisation or pest control.Once picked, the cherries are taken to the Buena Vista mill in Caranavi, where they are processed and dried. The climate in Caranavi is very humid and is prone to long periods of rain, so the mill have started using mechanical air driers, which are temperature controlled boxes using warm air to dry the coffee over a number of days. However, this lot was dried completely on raised beds, where it dried for 15 days. This long drying time ensures that the coffee is stable and uniformly dried, which means it retains its flavours for longer.
